In Room 12b , we entered into the HNI speech comp , and so far the three people chosen were - Aimee , Yasmin and Sophia. The rest of class still have their speeches , but three people share theirs at the house assembly. Then , Mr billings make a google spreadsheet for all the class to rate and put their opinion on the speeches that everyone had presented. Also , the topic was things related to the human body. For example - Immunisation , Snot/Boogers , obesity and more.
Here is my speech -
Do you see people coughing , sneezing or tried out? Maybe they haven’t had their immunisation. The people that can’t have it is either they are really unwell or have already had it done.
Immunisation is for letting your body know what the some diseases are and what they feel like when this disease comes to you. Some diseases are Rotavirus , Diphtheria and Tetanus. This immunisation will make sure you know what they do to you.
The vaccine causes the body immune system to produce its own protection against the three diseases. It is one injection given in the upper arm. Immunisation uses your body’s natural defence mechanism, the immune response, to build resistance to specific infections. If you have been immunised and you come into contact with that disease, your immune system will respond to prevent you developing the disease.
So , where do you get it from?
Well , everyone who is going to have it does it at school with the nurses.
Others have it done by their local doctor / nurse. Everyone needs to have it , but some can’t because they either got a reaction last time or their parents don’t want it.
So after all that nervous feeling , you feel okay right?
Well the common reaction you’ll have is just a sore arm for a while.
It’s almost rare to have a bigger reaction. This is what might happen;
Feeling woozy , a little sick , bigger reactions cause going to the hospital.
So , how can we help?
Our nurses are trained and ready for any reaction , if your woozy , they might help you with some water and sit for a bit. They are there to keep you company and safe.
So get out there and get your immunisation , much better to do it now then later!
Big reactions like that are rare , so you’ll only get a sore arm. If you get a disease without having immunisation , your body won’t know what's coming.. - Henrietta.
