Inference picture

In Room 12B , we have been focusing on show not tell. We had to write a story by not writing any of the words that easily describe what we are writing about.   Here is my inference story -

Can you guess what i'm describing?

- It was a peaceful day , and we went to the place where there are tiny skin coloured crystals covering it everywhere. The children love to play in it. They build a city everyday they come.

- I just sit on my soft towel enjoying the fresh smell that floats away into the foam water. Sometimes a faint smell of fish appears.

- A big gush of wind blew past me. Bigger than the normal kind we get on windy days. I looked up and screamed. I saw a slight line of blue. Everyone grabs their equipment and runs away. I hear children screaming and shouting.

- The big blue block disappears away into the distance , as everyone calms down.
After late , on the TV everyone was talking about the stunning blue shadow that went past. Then , they even went to the area where it was about.

- That frightened me from going down to the shore tomorrow morning.

Complex Sentences

In writing , we had to write two complex sentences. One had to be embedded (For example: One sentence , then add more into a full and long sentence ) (Add the commas!!).
The other had to be subordinate (Example - although the unicorn like me , he did grunt a lot)
The sentences had to be based on a picture of a haunted house that had broken and shattered windows and it was very dark. When you were done you could get another picture and write them like that , but still based on the picture.

Here is my writing -

Complex Sentences - Embedded & subordinate.

Haunted House
- The man walked past to the graveyard near to the old house.
- The man walked past to the graveyard near to the old house , shivers went down his spine as he looked at the shattered windows , and walked faster.
- As a gang of people came to the house , they threw stones at the windows leaving glass on the ground.

BeachSide
- The girl digged her feet into the sand like she does every summer.
- The girl digged her feet into the sand like she does every summer , the sea is crystal clear , and she likes to play in the sand as well.
- Since the sun was out , the starfish curled up his arms and blocked the shine from coming in.

Rainy Days
- I sat on the curtain bench and watched the rain fall from the gutter.
- I sat on the curtain bench and watched the rain fall from the gutter as it made loud noises, the rain was heavy , and it looked like it was going to last for the whole day.
- Since it was raining , mum didn’t let me go outside.

Playground
- I woke up to the sun as the children happily raced to the playground.
- I woke up to the sun as the children happily raced to the playground , squealing as they pushed each other down from the ladder.
- After the children had gone , I walked to the playground and sat on the swing.

Forests
- Birds sang as I entered the forest.
- Birds sang as I entered the forest , flying from tree to tree , the river made ripples as the wind blows past.
- After a long and stressful day , I went into the forest.

Social Dancing!

We had an extraordinary night at our school Social!

The only downside was that the fire alarm went off and everyone had to evacuate out of the building.
Luckily , after that happened , everything went well and everyone had a great time. I have to say that the line dances were the funnest out of all of them. I'm not so sure on the partner dances as I kept losing my partner and then I got mixed up.

My favorite line dance was probably the devil dance. We had competitions for who was the "Best Dressed" and whoever won got a lucky dip prize. Two people from each class , a girl and a boy would be chosen to get one.

After a lot of dances , we finally got to have some food. Sheppard was in charge of bring the food and hillary was in charge of bringing $4 along. Before we had food , we had to get a class photo with everyone's "Snazzy outfits" The night lasted until 8.30pm and started at 6.30pm. It was quite long , but pretty fun. Some of the line dances were called - Devil dance , Coconut cream , Red hot , Sea curse and shala lala lala.

What a night! (I think we might of had some photos and videos!)

~ Graphy Graph ~

In maths we made graphs for uniforms..
We made our presentation on prezi. It has all the graphs we created and information on them.

I made this presentation with aimee.

All the graphs have information on it about the graph and why we needed it. We figured out that girls need bigger sizes than boys. The lowest size for boys is 5, the lowest size for girls is 10. The biggest size for boys is 16 and for girls it is 18. (Only one girl is needed for the size 18).

Here is what we made on prezi -
